In case you missed it in our first newsletter for 2010, we are again featuring the news about The Bateleurs being a registered recipient of funds generated by the Woolworths MyPlanet programme. This is seen by our Board of Directors as having the potential to generate substantial funds for The Bateleurs and our initial target is to register two thousand “Bateleurs Supporters” in the MyPlanet programme.
The MyPlanet programme is a variation of the Woolworths MySchool programme (which has been in existence for some time and which secures funding specifically for South African schools). The MyPlanet programme is specifically for the support of South African environmental and conservation not-for-profit organisations.
Any Bateleurs member or supporter can now apply for a MyPlanet card, to be swiped at the till with every purchase at any Woolworths store and other participating retailers. Swiping your Bateleurs-linked MyPlanet card will ensure that a portion of the value of your purchase will reach our bank account. The beauty of this approach is that it will cost you nothing at all. You do not pay for the card and not one more cent is added to the cost of your purchases at Woolworths, but a (small) portion of the value of the goods in your shopping basket will be set aside by Woolworths for The Bateleurs. The challenge is to carry the card with you and to remember to present it when paying!
You can apply for a MyPlanet card by -:
1. Completing and submitting the Supporter Application form attached, OR
2. Submitting an on-line application via the button on our webpage www.bateleurs.org OR
3. Submitting an on-line application at www.myvillagemyplanet.co.za OR
4. Linking your current Woolworths Card to the MyPlanet programme – by telephoning 0860 100 445.
Please will you consider applying for your Bateleurs-MyPlanet card today – and please will you ask all your friends and relations and neighbours and colleagues and email and SMS contacts to do the same! To make a meaningful contribution, Woolworths have advised that The Bateleurs should acquire a minimum of 2,000 active supporters.
The more people swiping cards at Woolworths for The Bateleurs, the more money we will have for the work we do, and the more work we have, the more missions we will be able to fly.
In these difficult times of corporate fund raising, this alternative strategy could play a critical role in helping to supplement our coffers – please actively spread the word. Woolworths are not able to provide us with a detailed contact list of all who have signed up so we will find it difficult to monitor and motivate our support base. If it is possible, and not too much trouble, it would be very useful if you could forward to The Bateleurs (firstname.lastname@example.org) the contact details of any people you manage to ‘sign up’.
Please contact us if you have any queries about the MyPlanet programme as this applies to The Bateleurs.
